Mostar

Mostar is a cultural melting pot in the southern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mostly known for its iconic bridge, the city offers a perfect blend of history and natural beauty. Visitors can admire the enchanting stone architecture in the old town or take a stroll along the calm Neretva river.

Basic Information

Mostar is located on the Neretva river in the southern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina and has a population of around 100,000 people. The city has a diverse demographics including Bosnians, Serbians and Croats and offers great examples of Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian architectural styles.

Reconciliation Symbol

Old Bridge

The UNESCO World Heritage wonder of Ottoman architecture was built in the 16th century and today is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country. The bridge was destroyed during the Bosnian War in 1993, but it was rebuilt in 2004.

Wander The Streets

Kujundžiluk

The old centre of Mostar was restored to its original state after its destruction during the war in the 90s. It gained back its charm and is a great place to shop around for traditional Bosnian souvenirs and to taste the local cuisine.

From The Top

Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque

For a small fee, you can visit the interior and the minaret of this Mostar’s mosque. Climb to the top to get nice views of the Old Bridge and other parts of the city. If you don’t fancy climbing stairs, there’s another paid photo spot by the river.
