From Castle To Embankments In
Ljubljana
Come with me to visit this Middle-European gem, the capital city of Slovenia. Ljubljana is a place of dragons and nature. It rewards visitors with rich historical and cultural heritage as well as relaxed atmosphere on river embankments. In my opinion, it’s one of the greenest European capitals.
Basic Information
The capital city of Slovenia is located in the Central Slovenia region. It has around 280,000 inhabitants and is symbolised by a dragon representing courage and power. The look of the city was highly influenced by a notable Slovene architect Jože Plečnik. His projects are mostly categorised as Vienna Secession style and can also be found in Prague or Vienna.

Which Way To Go
Triple Bridge
You can hardly claim you’ve been to the Slovenian capital without walking on one of these three bridges connecting Prešernov trg square with the historical centre on the other bank. Its iconic pink Franciscan Church shouldn’t miss in your pictures.
Guarding a Hill
Ljubljana Castle
The castle has been standing on the hill above Ljubljana for more than nine centuries. Visit the top by a funicular to enjoy nice views of the city from its main landmark. Ljubljanski grad welcomes visitors with an interest in history and art to tell them its stories.
Along The River
Cankarjevo Embankment
Take your time to sit and relax in one of the numerous restaurants and cafés along the river. With all the greenery surrounding you, you will not even feel like in a capital. And don’t forget to see the town hall and Zmajski most decorated with dragons.
